ANTARCTICA, VP8/A, AN-016 Alan, 9V1DX, is belonging to a team in the Ellsworth Mountains between Dec 15 and Jan 10. Part of this team are mountain climbers who want to climb Mt. Vinson (the highest summit in Antarctica). Alan reactivated his old callsign VP8PJ for PSK31 QSOs and is operating as 9V0A in CW and SSB. More details can be found on the websites of: http://www.sarts.org.sg and http://www.geocities.com/vk0ld/home.html --- Filippo, IK0AIH, is using the callsign IA0PS from the scientific base Baia Terranova during the 19th PNRA Antarctic Expedition. You can find him very easily mostly on 14185 kHz until the end of February 2004. QSL via IK0AIH. --- Once again UA3YH/AB0KG will work at the geographical South Pole from Jan 3-17. Expect him to hit the airwaves as KC4AAA from the American Amundsen-Scott Base during his spare time. He prefers to meet his American friends on 14243 kHz from 0000-0200 UTC. QSL via UA3YH. --- Finn, VK0DX, will stay in Antarctica until February 2005. His preferred mode is CW. Unfortunately there is no more information available yet.
BHUTAN, A5 Dane, S57CQ, is expected to arrive in Bhutan on Dec 22. He should become active as A52CQ during his spare time. His stay is planned to last three weeks. QSL via S57DX, bureau ok.
CANADA, VE Starting on Jan 3 Jeffrey, KG0VL, and Justin, K9MU, will activate the squares EO16 (VE4/K9MU) and EO26 (VE4/KG0VL) for a few weeks. Their schedule is published online at: http://www.qsl.net/k9mu/ArcticGridExpedition.html
CAYMAN ISLANDS, ZF, NA-016 Pete, N2LM, will be active from Grand Cayman Island (NA-016) signing ZF2PD between Dec 28 and Jan 8. He plans to operate in CW/SSB on 80-6m. QSL via homecall.
COCOS KEELING ISLANDS, VK9/C, OC-003 Ken, JA1CMD, is going to hit the airwaves as VK9CA from this remote island between Dec 28 and Jan 2. He will work with 100 watts in CW/SSB on 10-80m. QSL via JA1CMD or K4ST.
GERMANY, DL, EU-047 Jo, DL1AB/p, will be QRV in SSB on 80/40m from Baltrum (EU-047, N-06) from Dec 25 until Jan 2. QSL via bureau.
HUNGARY, HA Tibor, HG4I, is signing HG04HNY in CW/RTTY/BPSK/SSB/FM (29 MHz) on all HF bands (incl. WARC) from Dec 10 un til Jan 12. Unfortunately QSL only direct.
INDIA, VU Norbert, DJ9RB, is in India again and plans to become active as VU2RBQ on 30m/40m and also on 80m. No more information has been provided.
IRAQ, YI George, K7YMA, is momentarily staying near Basrah and applied for an amateur radio license. No more information available yet.
LORD HOWE ISLAND, VK9/LH, OC-004 Mark, VK2GND, will be QRV as VK9LD mainly on 14273 and 14195 kHz from Dec 25-31. QSL via VK2GND.
MINAMI TORISHIMA, JD/MT, OC-073 Nob, JD1YBJ, will be on the island between Dec 25 and Jan 16. Good chances will be on 7042, 7047, 7052 or 7057 kHz around 1230 UTC (not for EU) and on 3795 or 14160 kHz.
RUSSIA, UA The memorial stations R1AEM, R3AEM, R4AEM, R6AEM, R9AEM and R0AEM are on the air to celebrate the 100th birthday of the polar scientist Ernest Krenkel, RAEM, from Dec 18-21. QSL via UA9XC, bureau ok. The callsign RAEM will be activated from St. Petersburg. QSL via RV1AQ. TUVALU, T2, OC-015 The callsigns for Sara, HA9SD, and Eli, HA9RE, will be published upon their arrival on Jan 1, 2004. They plan to work with two stations in CW/SSB on 80/40/30/20/15/10m until Jan 18. QSL via HA8IB, ONLY direct.
TURKEY, TA1 Martin, TA1/PA4WM, is now active from the vicinity of Istanbul.
US VIRGIN ISLANDS, KP2, NA-106 Mark, K4MCE, and Dave, N4KZ, will put the special callsign N4Z on the air from St. Croix between Dec 30 and Jan 5. They will work in CW/SSB on 6-160m. QSL via N4KZ.
USA, W Jim, K9BIG, is participating in the "ARLHS Christmas Lights QSO Party" from different lighthouses. The party takes place between Dec 20 and Jan 5. K9BIG/p will work on 40-10m, but mainly on 7270, 14270, 21370 and 28370 kHz. His schedule includes these lighthouses: Kenosha Southport Light, Kenosha/WI (ARLHS USA-912) on Dec 20, Kenosha Pierhead,Kenosha/WI (ARLHS USA-416) on Dec 21, Windpoint Light, Racine/WI (ARLHS USA-894) on Jan 3 and North Breakwater, Racine/WI (ARLHS USA-682) on Jan 4.
