1A0, SOV. MIL. ORDER OF MALTA
Starting around 1500z on December 8th,
1A0KM will be on the air until December 17th. Operations will take place
on all bands (160-10 meters) and modes (SSB/CW/RTTY) including WARC and
satellite (144/430) on the usual DX windows. There will be up to 3
stations active at once. Andre, ON1AIG, informed OPDX that 1A0KM will
begin satellite active on December 12th. Andre states, "Look for me on
both AO-13 and AO-10 around 890. Remember, the first hours I'll split,
useless to call on my downlink! JA stations will only have decent window
on AO-10, I'll try to be QRV on AO-10 as much as possible." QSLs go to

3V, TUNISIA
The DXNS report that Frank, DL8YHR, is planning to be active
March 1-10th (1996) from 3V8BB. Activity will be on satellite (AO-10 and
AO-13) and also EME on 144MHz (using 600W and 4 x 17 element yagis).
5A, LIBYA
Reports indicate Ted, LZ1WR, will be here in March of 1996. He
hopes to operate from 5A1A, possibly with his daughter, LZ1HH. He plans to
build monobanders for the usual DX bands and possibly improve the low band
antennas.
5V, TOGO
Dave Moody (5V7MD) and his wife, Janet, have returned to the
Republic of Togo after her surgery. He is a supervisor for the Baptist
Mission Hospital in Adeta. Dave operates mainly SSB and a little CW
around 14165 everyday at 2130z. QSL to AB7BB, Chuck Degard, 919 W. Vaughn
St., Tempe,AZ 85283. SASE and NO Bureau cards.
6Y5, JAMAICA
Alan, G3XAQ, will be active now until December 12th as
G3XAQ/6Y5 on CW running QRP. QSL via homecall.
9X, RWANDA
Mark, ON4WW, who was signing 9X/ON4WW has received his new
callsign and is now signing 9X4WW. Look for his activity on all bands.
BY, CHINA
Bob, K9RHY, will be in Beijing from December 6-9th. He has
made plans to operate from the club radio station BY1QH (which is operated
by Tsinghua University Amateur Radio Club, TUARC) through the efforts of
Shun (Sean) Yao, BZ1LUV.
C6A, BAHAMAS
Look out for Meg N2NQI, Dave WG3I, Walt G3NYY and Tim
G4VXE who will once again operate on all bands from New Providence
Island (NA-001) now through December 10th. Callsigns will be homecall/C6A.
Activity will be mainly CW and RTTY. QSL via home calls, EXCEPT WG3I
(via G3AUA), direct or via bureau.
CHANGE OF PLANS
Gerard, F2JD, now active as S79JD, is staying a few more
days in Seychelles. He will stay there until December 8 or 10th. Due to
this change of plans, his return trip via Kenya is cancelled. His trip
to Malagasy (5R) is still confirmed for the begininq of January.
FT5W, CROZET ISLAND
Samuel/F5IJT and Jean-Jacques/F5SZK will arrive on
Possession Island (46 S 51 E, Crozet archipelago) on Decmber 14th, and
will be signing FT5WE and FT5WF, respectively. They hope to have two
stations active for 12 months. Activity will be on CW, SSB, and they hope
to be active also on RTTY, SSTV, Packet Radio. Suggested frequencies:
CW - 3505, 7005, 10105 & 10115, 14005, 18075, 21005, 2489, 28005 kHz
SSB - 3792, 7045, 14145 & 14245, 18145, 21245, 24945, 28445 kHz
A beacon will transmit on 6 meters using the callsign FT5WE. QSL FT5WE
via F5GTW, Touyeras Claude, 23 rue des Chardonnais, cite de la Diete,

JD1, OGASAWARA
Eiji, JQ1SUO will be active as JD1/JQ1SUO between
December 23th and January 3rd. QSL via CBA.
P5, NORTH KOREA
The DX News Sheet reports that Martti, OH2BH, says
negotiations for the timing of P51BH and P51XX operations are well
underway and an announcement is expected shortly. ON4BAQ said (on 20
November) that P51BH and P51XX were QRV for four days from 18 November
working only CW with OH, OZ, ON and W6 stations. QSL via BY1PK.
SPECIAL EVENT STATION
On December 6th, the 70th anniversary of the first
amateur radio contact in Poland performed by the Polish radio amateur
Tadeusz Heftman, call sign TPAX, and a Dutch amateur Ten Kate, call sign
N-OPM, will occur. To commemorate this event, the editor of the
Radioamateurs Bulletin "QTC" and the HQ of the PZK will put in operation
a special amateur station with the call sign SP0TPAX. This station will be
on the air from December 1-15th, on all HF bands with modes CW, SSB and
RTTY. QSL cards are to be sent via SP2FAP or directly to the "QTC"
Magazine address (PO Box 18, 82-312 Elblag 13, Poland).
SPECIAL EVENT STATION
The VK1 Division of the Wireless Institute of
Australia will activate special event station VI100GM, from December
5-11th, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Guglielmo Marconi's
first wireless experiments. Activity will be on all bands using RTTY,
SSB, and CW. As part of the commemoration they will be demonstrating
amateur radio and EME to engineers and university students at Canberra
University using a newly operational dish. The EME demonstration is
planned for 11 December from 1800-2330z on 70cm (and possibly 23cm).

SPECIAL EVENT STATION
Look for ZW5VB to be active December 7-10th, from
Farol Santa Marta (DFB SC-12). This station qualifies for the Brazilian
Lighthouses Award - DFB. Activity will be on 80-10 meters CW/SSB. QSL via
PP5SZ, P. Sirzanink, Rua Pd Roma 194/704, 88010-090, Florianopolis/SC,
Brasil.
VK0, MACQUARIE ISLAND
Warren, VK0WH, arrived on Macquarie Island on
November 18, making the trip on short notice. Bob, NM7M, reports that
Warren will have to use some commercial gear at the station with a
synthesizer instead of a VFO. His operating frequencies will be 14130
kHz for SSB, 7010 kHz for CW and 3570 kHz for SSB. While Warren does
not give any operating hours, he did indicate that he will have a regular
sked with VK4ATS at 1000z on 14130 kHz, starting December 10, and
indicated that others are welcome to call in. Warren will be advised to
try to listen up the 20 meters band, should he try for contacts with
stateside stations. Warren's original intention was to have a very low
key amateur radio operation because he won't have much free time. He
will be on the island for a full year, so perhaps he will be able to do
more than originally planned once the routine of work settles in. Warren
indicated that he may not be able to get any QSLs out for quite a few
months or possibly until he returns home, so those who need VK0 for DXCC
will have to be patient. Warren was heard this past week on 7009 kHz on

VU7, ANDAMAN ISLANDS
G0WAZ reports that Jim Smith, VK9NS, plans to
return to Andaman island in February 1996.
XZ1A UPDATE
OH1EB has left Yangon with some 9000 QSOs, 3800 in the CQWW
CW Contest. The station remains in place with more activity expected in
January by OH1NYP and OH2BH, concentrating especially on 160/80 and the
areas of the world with the most difficult path (central and eastern North
America). All XZ1A QSOs up to this point --more than 25k-- will be compiled
into one database. QSL labels will be printed soon, with cards going out

YA, AFGHANISTAN
The RW3AH DX PacketCluster have reported activity by
YA9XL on 40 meters between 1730 and 2230z. The operator states to QSL
via F5TCN. There are no other details to report and no QSNs have been
reported on the Ohio/Penn Network.
YJ, VANUATU
Daniel, FK8FU, will be active on all bands between December
18 and January 1996. QSL via N5AU.
ZL8, KERMADEC ISLAND
The December issue of QST reports that Ron, ZL1AMO,
is involved with a group of ZL operators who plan to be on the air from
Kermadec in May 1996. Landing permission has already been granted, and
there are no operating restrictions. The only problem is raising funds.
The operation will cost about 30,000 US dollars.
ZK1, NORTH & SOUTH COOK ISLANDS
The DX News Letter reports that
Trond/LA1TV, Ingun/LA1LIA and Oddvar/LA9JX want to work as ZK1ATV, ZK1LIA
and ZK1NJX from Aitutaki (OC-083) from December 9-14th. They will use the
same calls when they worked from Manihiki Island North Cook (OC-014)
between December 28 and January 4th (1996). Suggested Frequencies: CW -
3505, 7005, 10105, 14005, 18075, 21005 kHz / SSB - 3795, 7045, 14195,
18145, 21295 kHz. QSL via homecalls.
ZS8, MARION ISLAND
The DXNS report, "An HF licensed amateur is believed
to be due at ZS8MI in March 1996".
