3C1, EQUATORIAL GUINEA. Teo, EA6BH, announced he will be active from Cogo, October 16-22nd, as 3C1DX. His suggested frequencies are: CW - 3005, 7005, 14005, 21005 and 28005 kHz; SSB - 80/40 meters unknown at this time, 14195, 21195 and 28495 kHz. He stated that he will try to be active on the WARC bands, and if he has time he will operate RTTY on 14088 kHz. QSL via EA6BH.

5X, UGANDA. Peter, 5X1T, has been barely active as his family was on visit during July and August. Beginning September 7th, Peter will be back on the air full speed. 9U5CW is shipping Peter's low band vertical back, so we can expect 5X on 80 and 160 meters again. Peter is leaving Uganda on December 1st for 3 months for the Heard Island expedition.

8Q, MALDIVES. Andy, G4VPM, will be here September 8-22th and will be active as 8Q7AS. His station operations will be limited to QRP only with an Argonaut 535 and R7 antenna. QSL to CBA.

9M6, EAST MALAYSIA. The DXNS reports Saty, JE1JKL, has a contest shack on Labuan Island where he is regularly active as 9M6NA. He plans to be active in the CQWW CW Contest 80 meters (November 23-24th). QSL to CBA.

9U, BURUNDI. Alfredo, 9U5CW, has informed Peter, 5X1T/ON6TT, that due to security precautions, he decided to temporarily suspend his ham activity. The situation in Burundi after the coup and during the economic embargo is not clear and far from safe. Alfredo sends his regards to all.

D2, ANGOLA. Birgitta, SM0FIB, now active as D2FIB will continue to be active until September 13th. This YL can also be found daily on 20/15 meters SSB. Check 21226 kHz around 1245z and 14252 or 14265 kHz starting around 1915z. It has also been reported that she checks into the YL net on 14243kHz at 1700z Thursdays and is active most evenings at 1900z on 14295kHz looking for SM stations. QSL to CBA.

E3, ERITREA. Many have been waiting and wondering why an operation has not taken place from here. Carl Henson, WB4ZNH, who had the first valid operation from E3, informed everyone this week: "I travelled to Eritrea last October assuming I would have no trouble operating there. Bad move. Even though Martha and I were the first to operate from Eritrea after the revolution, we were denied permission. The official reason was that Eritrea is in the process of creating new Amateur Radio Rules. At that time, the head of the Dept. was in Norway, studying Norway's Amateur Radio Rules. I phone Asmara day before yesterday (August 20th) and received the same answer as nearly a year ago."

LU6Z SOUTH ORKNEY QSL NEWS. Alberto, LU1DZ. states: "As you know, during the last Antartic summer two operators from our Argentine CW Group, Hector, LU6UO, and Ernie, LU1ZPF, made more than 23,000 QSOs mainly in CW from the South Orkney Island." You can read the complete story with some photos in the last "The DX Magazine" issue published in USA by VP2ML. Raul, LU6EF is the QSL Manager and he has sent more than 500 direct and bureau QSLs.
