5A, LIBYA (Update and Reminder!). As mentioned in OPDX.312, a group of Germans will be active from here November 24 through December 4th. The operators will be Andy/DJ7IK, Dieter/DL3KDV, Felix/DL8OBC, and Thomas/ DL1GGT, of the RRDXA. Activity will included the CQWW CW Contest as a Multi-Single entry with two stations on the air from the 5A1A club station. They will operate CW/SSB and RTTY on 160-10 meters (including the WARC bands). An InterNet E-mail reflector has been set up by K7ON. You can send a message to "libya@qth.net" with the command "subscribe libya" in the message body, and they will keep you up-to-date. 8P, BARBADOS. The "DX News Sheet" reports David, VE3VET, will be active once again as 8P9IJ. Activity will be on SSB and RTTY all bands. His operations will take place October 5-12th, from Warleigh Plantation in St. Peter Parish (while on his honeymoon!). QSL via home call.

9K, KUWAIT (Special Event). Look for 9K2BI to be active in the 40th World Scout JOTA, October 18-19th. This station will be on the air with the coordination of the Kuwait Amateur Radio Society "KARS" (9K2RA) and Kuwait Boy Scouts Association "KBSA" and will participate in the above mentioned event for the first time. The KARS helped established a Radio Station at the HQ of KBSA under the callsign of 9K2BI and the station was provided with all required pieces of equipment and their accessories. The station will eventually become permanent. During the special event, the station will be operated and administered by the members of KARS with the participation of KBSA's members including ex-scouts.

CM/CO, CUBA. Do you need a card from here? Jose, CO3CL, reports the following four stations are very active from the island, even on the WARC bands. Look for:

DX1, PHILIPPINES. Look for DX1S to be on the air for the CQWW SSB and CW Contests. This is the callsign of the Filipinas DX Society recently organized by Roger, DU1KT, and Robin, DU9RG, as founding president. Membership is open to DXCC holders, both local and foreign. EL LIBERIA. Joe, K3KN, currently active from the U.S. Embassy, will be operating as EL/K3KN until November 6 or 7th. He operates SSB (CW on request) on 40-10 meters with his IC-706 and log periodic. He was heard this past weekend on 24954 kHz at 1330z, 10113 kHz at 2145z and 21264 kHz at 1745z. QSL via KB3U.

EP, IRAN (Special Event). On Friday, October 3rd, around 1225z, a station with the call EP23TIE was active on 14200 kHz. This Iranian special event station will be on the air until October 10th to mark the 23rd Tehran International Exhibition. EP23TIE will be on the air from 0530 until 1330z daily. QSL to the Directorate General of Telecommunications, Box 931, Tehran, Iran.

FJ, SAINT MARTIN. Jacques, F6BUM, will be active as FJ/F6BUM from St. Barthelemy October 24-31st. Activity will be on SSB and CW with operations on 40-10 meters. This French island has an IOTA of NA-146.

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN. A a Hungarian team will once again be active from Triesen, on October 31st through November 8th. They will participate in the HA-QRP Contest with HB0/HA5RT/p callsign. They will run a QRP station on 3511 kHz 24 hours a day between November 1 and 7th. The leader of team is HA6NL/Laci, and the operators are HA0HW/Laci, HA4GDO/Tomi, HA4XG /Geza, HA6PS/Zsolti, HA6PX/Csaba, HA6ZV/Tibi, HA9AX/Imre and HA9RR/Pista. The operators will use their home calls after HB0/ prefix. Activity will be on all bands 160-10 meters including the WARC bands, CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL cards for HB0/HA5RT/p s QSOs should go to HA6NL and all others should go via their home calls. Direct and bureau cards will be answered the same way. They mentioned that they would like to work a few days from 4U1ITU between November 3-6th. Suggested frequencies:

HP0, SOUTH SHETLANDS. "The Daily DX" received a report that states Stan, SP3BGD, will be leaving Poland on October 20th, to head for the Henryk Arctowski Station located on King George Island in the South Shetland Islands (VP8). He will be taking a boat trip to the island which will take about 40 days to get to the Antarctic base. Once on the island, Stan will relieve Marek (Mark), SP3GVX, who has been operating the club station HF0POL. Stan will leave the island and head back to Poland on December 15th. Since 1991 this club station has made over 25,000 QSOs.

HR6, ROATAN ISLAND (Honduras). Joe, VE3BW, will be active from this Honduran island, February 1-22nd, as VE3BW/HR6. He will be active in the ARRL DX CW Contest. Look for him on the WARC bands before and after the contest. ADDED NOTE (Reminder!): Joe will also be active from St. Kitts from November 17th through December 1st as V47CA. IOTA NEWS. Tony/IK1QBT, Nino/IK1ZOZ, Gigi/IK1WJI and Mauro/IK1CJO plan to be active from Gallinara Island (rare island of Ligurian group) IOTA EU-083. Depending on the weather, activity will be between October 11th and 12th or 18th and 19th. Operators will sign IP1/homecall. Their activity will be on CW/SSB with operations on all HF bands (WARC bands included). Check around the standard IOTA frequencies. There will also be activity on 6 meters and VHF in SSB. The reference number for the Italian Island Award (I.I.A.) is SV-01. QSL via their respectives home calls via bureau or direct.

IOTA NEWS. Laci, HA6NL, will spend his holidays on Corfu Island (EU-052) and will operate as SV8/HA6NL/p between October 15-22nd. He will operate mainly CW but some SSB and RTTY operation are also expected. Suggested frequencies on CW: 1831, 3511, 7011, 7025, 10104, 14025, 18071, 21011, 21025, 24891, 28011 and 28025 kHz. QSL to his home call via the bureau or direct.

KH5, PALMYRA (and KH5K Kingman Reef). The South Sandwich Island Dxpedition Group (SSIDXG) announced that one of their team members, Chuck, N4BQW, will go with the USFWS to Palmyra Island in two weeks. Chuck will be flying to Christmas Island where he will meet up with the USFWS. From there Chuck will take a 3 day boat trip to Palmyra Island. Chuck will operate as N4BQW/KH5 for 8 days. The dates of operations were not announced. (ed. It sounds like the operation will take place within a couple of weeks.) He will operate 80-10 meters including WARC bands. He has managed to get permission to take a beam with him this time but no amp. He will operate CW and SSB and possibly RTTY. Chuck has spoken with the Ship's Captain, and he informed him that barring unforeseen problems, there would also be a 48 hour operation from Kingman Reef after they leave Palmyra Island. PACIFIC ISLAND HOPPING. Maurice, ZL2MF, and Ken, JA3MVI, are currently island hopping in the Pacific on a business tour. By the time you read this, they probably have left Rarotonga (South Cook). Thanks to Alan, VK4AAR, who talked to Maurice and has provided the following schedule below. The information includes duration of operation, callsigns to be used and QSL routes in the ( ) and bands available.

They are travelling together, except Ken will be in Tonga while Maurice is in Vanuatu. Ken has an inverted vee for 15/40m and Maurice has the 20m dipole. When they are together, they will be able to share antennas and visit different bands. (Alan.. "The last stop in Fiji starts on 15th which is the day before they leave their previous locations. I suppose this has something to do with the International Dateline?")

P4, ARUBA. Rick, NE8Z, will be active as P4/NE8Z from here, October 25th through November 1st. Activity will be mainly CW on the WARC bands. QSL via K8LJG.

QSL INFO AND NEWS....

T32, CHRISTMAS ISLAND. Paul, WC5P, reports to OPDX that he will be in Eastern Kiribati from November 19th to Decmeber 2nd, operating as T32BE. Activity will be on all HF bands, mostly CW. He will be active in the CQWW CW Contest. QSL via WC5P.

TM5, FRANCE. Dominique, F5SJB, will be using the callsign TM5CW from November 22nd to December 1st. This will include participation during the CQWW CW Contest.

V6, MICRONESIA. Aston, V63BR, is reportedly now active on RTTY. There were no QSNs reported. QSL via AA4US or direct to: Aston Nakayama, P.O. Box 305, Chuuk Island, Micronesia.

XE, MEXICO. Josep, EA3BT, and his wife Nuria, EA3AOK, who will be active from Cancun, on October 12-18th, will be using the callsigns XF3/EA3BT and XF3/EA3AOK, respectively and from Cozumel Island (NA-090), October 19-26th, they will use the same callsigns. Their activity will be on 40-10 meters, including WARC bands, possibly 80 meters. Operations will be on SSB and RTTY and some little CW if needed. They will also take part in the CQWW SSB Contest. Z2, ZIMBABWE. "The 59(9) DXReport" states that DF3XZ will be active from here October 15-30th, as Z2/DF3XZ from Z21HJ's QTH. QSL via homecall.
