Thanks to the Northern Ohio Amateur Radio Society, Northern Ohio DX Association, Ohio/Penn PacketCluster Network, W1QWT, WB2RAJ/WB2YQH & The 59(9) DXReport, KC2CJB, KH2D, N2OO, W2DEC, N4GN, W4WX, WQ4L, KG6AR, N6ED, N6JV, K8MN, KB8PZQ, K0IR, AH0W/OH2LVG, BA4TB, EA4ECF, F6AJA & LNDX, G4BUE & DX News Sheet, GM4FDM, HA5PP, HK0TU, ZS6IR and 3C5I for the following DX information.

5H, TANZANIA. Dave, K8MN (currently signing OH2/K8MN), reports to OPDX that he will be leaving Helsinki on July 9th and will be in the U.S. until near the end of August. After his short stay in the U.S., Dave will be in Tanzania for three years. As in the past, his activity (with no particular schedule) will be on 160-6 meters including all WARC bands. Operations on CW and SSB will be the predominate modes with RTTY thrown in from time to time. QSLs go to WA8JOC.

7O, YEMEN. Zoli, HA5PP, sent out a new release early Sunday morning (June 21st) stating he has been communicating with the Deputy Minister (of Telecommunications) in Sana'a Yemen. He reports that the they really want to "start/establish hamradio in Yemen..." (which Zoli states "that was the first big surprise to me there... Before I calculated a big contention/fighting about hamradio there.) Zoli has been given an application and has supplied an offer to the Deputy Minister. In it, Zoli has offered to build 4 complete stations in Sana'a, Taiz and Aden. He has also offered to conduct education class of hamradio (QSO, rules, etc) for the Yemenis between September 1st and December 1st. Zolis also mentioned that he made a promise to the Secretary of IARU to help Yemen to join the IARU. He has requested 7O8DX and 7O8CW callsigns for the two stations in Sana'a to operate during the education period (for Aden he requested 7O1A). Zoli reports his second big surprise happend when he found out that the Deputy Minister knew/spoke (a little...) Hungarian stating, "Mr. Zoli I like your application...you will be the first (one of the million, Hi) foreigner operator in Yemen. The first op will be a Yemeni op...foreigner only after Yemeni ops"... Zoli was told that there are a lot of applications from other hams who would like to operate from 7O-land. Zoli requested them to not lose those applicants and that he promised to collect all the hams of the world who want to help (and to operate from) Yemen. So, Zoli states if you want to help, please, contact him by E-mail at: navus@mail.matav.hu He would like to go back to Sana'a as soon as possible and wants to thank K4TKM and the NCDXF who made the 7O-trip possible!

IOTA NEWS.....

OTHER GUAM DXER LEAVES. Gary, K9AW/KH2 (aka NH2G, KH2L, NY6M/KH2) will be leaving Guam in few weeks and retiring to the Philippines. Gary was by far THE most active HF operator on Guam, having worked hundreds of thousands of stations on HF from Guam. Jim, KH2D, reports "Ham Radio" in KH2 (and KH0-land) is at an all time low, mainly speaking HF operators (the rest carry their shack on their belt). Jim suggests the downfall has to do with the military downsizing which started a few years ago. This cost Guam most of their Dxers and contesters. He states that they have lost five HF operators in the past six months, including K9AW. Currently in Guam, there are two active HF operators (N2NL/KH2 and KH2D) and in Saipan, one active HF operator (WH0AAV). In the fall of last year, the remaining few HF operators have decided to form a club called Mariana Islands DX Association that would unite the hams in Guam and Saipan, and would attempt to promote HF operating to the "new" hams. For more details on MIDXA, visit their Web page at: http://www.guam.net/pub/midxa/

OD, LEBANON. Jim, OD5PN, has been found to be active over the last week on 15 and 20 meters SSB. Check 14223, 21205 and 21245 kHz between 1330 and 1430z, and again around 2000z. QSL via LX1NO. Meanwhile, "The 59(9) DXReport" states Jean-Pierre, F6FLV, is active as OD5RAK until June 30th.
