3D2, FIJI. Remember to look for Brian, N6IZ, to be active as 3D2IZ from Namotu Island (OC-121) through April 6th. His activity will be mainly on CW on 80-10 meters. He was heard over the weekend on 14023 kHz between 0430-0730z and 7005 kHz between 1000-1345z.

4Z8, ISRAEL. Guenter, OE1GZA, informs OPDX that he will be active once again from here on April 4th and most probably also on April 5th. He will activate the rare 4Z8-prefix using the callsign 4Z8GZ. The operation will take place in Tel Aviv. Activity will be on 20-10 meters. QSL to OE1GZA. Guenter's Web page is at: http://www.qsl.net/oe1gza/

7P, LESOTHO. Frosty, K5LBU, reports that they have lost one of the operators for their July trip to Lesotho. Operators now aboard are: Frosty/K5LBU (7P8CF), Tom/WW5L (7P8TA) and Madison/W5MJ (7P8MJ). Reportedly, all the equipment is already in Lesotho, and the operators will not have to carry any heavy radio equipment. If interested in joining the operation, please contact Frosty/K5LBU at: frosty1@pdq.net Frosty states more details on this operation will be forthcoming.

8Q, MALDIVES. Look for Riccardo/IZ5EBL and Rossella/IZ5BRO to be active from April 13-21st as 8Q7RL and 8Q7RC. Activity will be on 40-10 meters SSB with some CW and PSK31. QSL via their home callsigns.

CT3, MADEIRA ISLAND. Ben, DJ8FW, will be active as CT3AS, from April 9-21st. Activity will be on CW/RTTY/PSK31 on 80-15 meters as time permits. QSL via DJ8FW.

CY9, ST. PAUL ISLAND. A group of 5-6 operators will be going here between July 24th and August 2nd. Their activity will include an entry in the July IOTA Contest. St. Paul Island's IOTA number is NA-094.

DU, PHILIPPINES (IOTA Ops). Frank, VE7DP, informs OPDX that he will be making a short visit to the Philippines during April. Some of his partners/ operators from his 2001 activations (which includes 4I1P, 4H2B and DU1/VE7DP) will be joining him again. This trip's destinations of interest are Semirara Islands (OC-125), also Calagua Islands (OC-202) or Cagayan Islands (OC-207). Most of their activity will take place April 6-18th. More info/details are forthcoming.

IOTA NEWS....................

IP1, ITALIAN ISLAND. Giuseppe "Beppe", IK5CBE, informs OPDX that he, Alberto/IK5FTV and possibly others will activate Palmaria Island using the special callsign IP1A from April 4-7th. Palmaria Island does not have an IOTA number, but is valid "only" for the Italian Islands Award with the reference number IIA SP-001. Activity will be on 160-6 meters. KH6, HAWAII. Philip, KA0PGQ, announced that he will be active from here in October. Activity will include an entry in the CQWW SSB Contest as QRP. He is looking for advice on his operation, and his E-mail address is: pschweit@mninter.net

QSL INFO AND NEWS....................

S0, WESTERN SAHARA. A bulletin from the "S05X Team" announced this past week the biggest INTERNATIONAL team ever seen in the desert will be on air from Western Sahara next April 15th. Operators Hrane/YT1AD, Miki/YU1AU, Max/I8NHJ, Doug/N6TQS, Jordan/KD7RCD, Marq/CT1BWW, Juanca/EA2RC, Fernand/ EA1BT, Toni/EA5RM, Julio/EA5XX and Mahafud/S01MZ (all 11 are first class operators) will be doing their best and represent six different countries: Yugoslavia, USA, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Western Sahara. They will be working from the very heart of the desert as S05X. All of them are very well known DXers and DXpeditioners, and their plans include a 24 hours, all band, all mode, operation from S0-land. Using 1KW output power, they are going to transmit especially on the low bands, CW and SSB, as well as PSK31, RTTY and 6 meters. They will take a special interest/care to listen for USA's West Coast openings. Their antenna farm will include a few yagis, so they expect to have worldwide coverage. Their pilot stations will be the two main editors of the 425 DX News: Mauro/I1JQJ ( i1jqj@interlink.it ) and Maurizio ( i121171@tin.it ) The QSL Manager is EA4URE, the Spanish Bureau, and S05X is going to be on the air until April 20th. The "S05X Team" now has a Web page active with a SURVEY to fill out for your "S05X" needs/wants (bands/modes). Go to: http://www.pagus.it/S05X/ On-line log search shows 32,906 QSSOs as of Friday, March 28th. The log was not updated during the CQ WPX Contest.

ST, SUDAN. You have until April 2nd to work ST0RY. They continue to be very active, especially during last weekend's contest. All the operators are in good spirits and the equipment is holding up. Pictures, log and updates can be found on the Web page at: http://www.df3cb.com/st0ry/

T30, WESTERN KIRIBATI. Tusti, W4WET, is now active as T30ONM from Tarawa. His orginal plans were to head to Nauru (C21) and then go to Tarawa. Nauru said he could get a visa upon arrival, but the airline bumped him because he had no visa. It looks like Tusti will be here through the rest of the week and maybe longer as Nauru does not look possible. Anyway, Tusti has been very active on 20 meters RTTY (some 10/15 meters). TU, COTE D'IVOIRE. David, F5THR, should be active as TU5CD now through July 1st. As this was being written, no QSNs were reported as of yet. QSL via F8BON.

V6, MICRONESIA (New IOTA Activated). You have a couple of more days to work Joe/I2YDX and Robert/IK2WXZ from Nukuoro Island (OC-259) as V60A and V60Z, respectively. They plan to leave this new IOTA on April 1st (they have been there since March 28th). After their operation on Nukuoro Island and they head back to Pohnpei, another source reports that the two operators will make a several hour stop on Oroluk Island (OC-NEW). They are expected to activate this new IOTA possibly between 0000-0600z (maybe as late as 0800). After this activity, they will then go to Mokwil Island (OC-226) and be active from April 6-7th as V63DT and V63ZR. Most of their activity has been on 40/20/15 meters, mainly SSB very little CW.

XY, MYANMAR (Update to OPDX.603). Frank, DL4KQ, will use the callsign XY4KQ during his operation from April 1-15th. For updated information, please watch the Web page at: http://www.dx-pedition.de

YB0, INDONESIA. Stan Matejicek, OK1JR, informs OPDX that he has just received his Indonesian Radio Amateur Licence, and his callsign is YB0AJR. He will stay in Indonesia another few months at the Czech Embassy. Stan plans to be active on 160-6 meters from not only from Jakarta (YB0), but also from other Indonesian Islands. ZC4, UK SOV. BASE AREA ON CYPRUS. Bill, G4EHT, will be visiting his son Dez, ZC4DW, between April 14-28th. Bill will be on a family holiday but hopes to schedule in some time on HF CW. He will be operating from the Eastern Sovereign Base using their club callsign ZC4ESB. Please be patient with Bill as he hasn't worked pile-ups for many years.
