3Z0, POLAND (Special Event). Look special event stations 3Z0AJC, 3Z0AWQ, 3Z0JLP, 3Z0ZKX and 3Z0ZAG to be active to celebrate 25 years of the town of Zagorz, Poland. Activity will last until the end of July 2002. QSL via the SP8 home callsigns (except for 3Z0ZAG), or SP8AJC.

7O1YGF UPDATE. Hans, DK9KX, informed the DX Community that Dominik, DL5EBE, handed over documents regarding the 7O1YGF operation to Wayne Mills, N7NG, at the Ham Radio Fair in Friedrichshafen last weekend. Now it's up to the ARRL to make a decision. The sad new is that Bernd Krueger, DJ7MG, one of the crew passed away in April 2002.

AL8, ALASKA. Ron, WA6FGV, is currently active from here as AL8/WA6FGV. His stay is unsure, but he has been active on 40/20/17 meters CW. Watch after 1300z on 40 meters, after 0500z on 20 meters and after 2330z on 17 meters. Also, check phone on 14205 at about 0300z. He says he has a very high noise level, but he wants to pass out the AL8 prefix as much as he can.

CE0Y, EASTER ISLAND. Hisato, 7K1WLE, will be active from here (IOTA SA-001) for his summer vacation between July 18-24th as CE0Y/7K1WLE. Some may remember Hisato as VY0/7K1WLE last October. Activity will be on 160-10 meters, mainly on CW and some SSB. He will be using a IC-706+IC-2KL(500W) with a wire antenna. Suggested operating frequencies are:

He may briefly be active from Papeete, French Polynesia (FO) for one day before and after his stay at Easter Island. QSL via JN1HOW: Toshihiko Niwa, 1081-8 Sakae, Kitakawabe, 349-1213 JAPAN.

CORRECTION (OOOPPPS Department). In OPDX.568 under "IOTA NEWS", the IOTA number EU-114 was incorrect for Dany's, F5CW, operation from Guadeloupe. It should be NA-114, not EU-114.

CY9, ST.PAUL ISLAND. The operators from the CY9DH operation are now QRT. Last report, they made 12,180 contacts on HF as of 0000z July 7th. No report is available on VHF contacts. QSL the operation via W7XU. Duane, WV2B, reports that he took pictures before he left the isalnd on July 2nd. They can be seen at: http://www.geocities.com/stpaulisland/CY9DH.html

DAYTON 2002 GALLERY IS UP! Tom Roscoe, K8CX, has posted the Dayton 2002 Gallery now up on the Web at: http://hamgallery.com/dayton2002/ The Gallery has 154 photos this year. Tom took 97 photos and the rest came from W4MYA, XE1L, VP5JM, N1DG, K8AV, and K8KHZ. There are still some unidentified people in these photos. If you know who these unknown hams are, please let him know. There is photo coverage of the Contesters Banquet, Top Band Dinner, DX Dinner, and Crowne Plaza Hospitality Suites. Tom is interested in putting up a WRTC 2002 Gallery. Unfortunately, he will not be able to attend. If you go, take some pics and send them to him for the Gallery. EA9, MELILLA (Update). Juan, EA7VK, updates OPDX that the URE group going to Alboran Island (IOTA AF-042), July 19-23rd, is near North Africa. They will be operating on 80/40/30/20/17/15/12/10 and possibly on 160 meters (He says, "This time no good for top band."). There will also be activity on 6m, 2m and 70cm on SSB and CW. If it is possible, there could be operations on RTTY. The transmissions on 50Mhz from the Grid Square IM85LW is new! They expect to put three stantions on IOTA frequencies: one SSB on the HF bands, one CW on the HF bands and one SSB alternating CW for 6/2m and 70cm. Maybe a fourth station will be added for the HF bands. QSL via EA7RU.

ADDED NOTE: Please observe that 1 USD is not sufficient for return postage to either Europe or the rest of the world. 1 IRC is OK for all parts of the world for up to 20 gram envelopes. More than 50 percent of direct QSLs for the April 2002 JX2IJ activity were received with insufficient return postage.

LX, LUXEMBOURG (SPECIAL EVENT). Look for activity from the special event callsign LX8LGS (Luxembourg Guides and Scouts) between July 17-27th. Their activity will be on 160-2 meters on SSB, CW, RTTY and SSTV. The station will be active during the "National Scout Camp" (11 to 14 years old) in the northern part of Luxembourg. MOUNTAIN POLAR DXPEDITION. Members of Russian Robinson Club plan to be active as R3RRC/1 from August 9-23rd from Khibiny Mountains in the Kola Peninsula (RM-0101 for Russian Mountain Award). The activity will be on the HF and VHF bands. For more information regarding Russian Mountain Award, see the Web page at: http://www.hamradio.ru/rrc/AWARDS/rma.htm (However, it is in Russian)

P5/4L4FN, NORTH KOREA (Upate). Bruce, KK5DO, informs OPDX that several weeks ago he sent a bunch of equipment over to Ed, P5/4L4FN. He was in Beijing during the end June and has collected everything. He is now back in North Korea. Among the things sent to him was a complete satellite station for AO-40 (less the radio which he has), a Hex Beam and rotor as well as an addition to his Butternut antenna for 6m/12m/17m. In the next few weeks he will assemble these items and make them operational. Ed will start making some satellite contacts on AO-40, phone only. The Hex Beam should allow him to have a better signal than he has now, and give him the ability to point at the signals he wants to hear. The upgrade on the Butternut will allow him to continue to make 6m contacts and possibly work some further away stations than he already has. Also included in the package was a copy of QST that had an article about him by Bernie, W3UR, and the plaque that was given to him in absence at Dayton, as well as some of his QSL cards (Bruce thought it would be nice for him to see how they look in print).
