PACIFIC

KH4 - MIDWAY ISLAND Ted, KH4/NH6YK, is QRV again from OC-030 between Jul 30 and Aug 12. He intends to put his emphasis on 6-20m SSB ooperation during his spare time. Ron, AH4/WA6FGV, and Frans, WH4/K6SHJ, will be QRV on 10/15/20/40m in CW and SSB from Aug 3-6. All QSLs via homecalls.

T8 - BELAU T88LJ is QRV until Aug 2. QSL via JM1LJS.


AFRICA

TT - CHAD Jim,WA4KKY, is QRV again (possibly the last time) from Chad signing TT8JWM mostly in SSB or RTTY on 15/17/20m until August 7 or 8. QSL via W4 bureau or direct to N4RXL.

TU - COTE D'IVOIRE Ken, TU/K4ZW, intends to activate a clubstation in Abidjan between July 25 and August 9. QSL via K4ZW.


AMERICA

CARIBBEAN TOUR via FM - MARTINIQUE, FG - GUADELOUPE Carlo, FM/I4ALU, will be active from NA-107 in CW only on 10-80m from Aug 6-17. Afterwards he intends to activate FG/I4ALU from Aug 19-27. QSL via bureau or direct to I4ALU.

KL7 - ALASKA KL7/ON4BAM is QRV on 17m and 20m between July 24 and August 9.

V2 - ANTIGUA Darell, AB2E, will be on the air as V26E during the WAE CW Contest. He will operate also on 160m and WARC outside the contest periods.. QSL via AB2E, direct or via bureau.

VP2E - ANGUILLA VP2ECR was announced to be activated by CX4CR on 40m and 80m from Aug 3-10. QSL via CX3CE, Box 244, Montevideo, Uruguay.

ZP - PARAGUAY Until September ZP5MAL is QRV on 160m daily from 0300-0500 UTC and during the weekends also around 1000-1130 UTC. QSL via bureau.


ASIA

9K - KUWAIT From Aug 1-3 the clubstation 9K7POW will be activated to remember their prisoners of war (POWs) still being held by the Iraqi regime. QSL via bureau ONLY.

9M6 - EASTERN MALAYSIA Uwe,DJ9HX, will stay in Sabah from Aug 6-29. He plans to head for Layang Layang (Spratly Islands) from Aug 11-19 and also to operate from Sipadan Island (OC-133) from Aug 20-25. Operation will take place on 10 to 40m with emphasis put on 10 and 12m. QSL via BUREAU to DJ9HX.

HL - SOUTH KOREA Celebrating 50 years of Korean government after World War II all South Korean stations are allowed to use the prefix HL50 and DS50 during August. It is also possible to append the area code: e.g. DS1ABC may sign DS50ABC/1.

UA0 - ASIATIC RUSSIA RU0C had to be postponed since there is no transportation possibility for the next two weeks.


EUROPE

OJ0 - MARKET REEF OJ0AU hit the airwaves on July 21 and went QRT on July 27 at 1600Z. QSL via DL6LAU.

SV - GREECE Kiki, SV1BRL/8, is staying on Kefalonia (EU-052) and is QRV in SSB on 40/80m, WARC bands, 6 and 2m. During the IOTA Contest she signed J48KEF. All QSLs via SV1BRL.

SV9 - CRETE SV9/I4UFH and SV9/IK2QEI will operate from the station of SV9ANJ on 6-160m from Aug 3-17. QSL direct or via buro to their homecalls.

TK - CORSICA Robert, TK/S53R, is on the air since July 27 until August 2. Usually he confirms all QSOs via the bureau automatically.


CONTESTS

WAE DX CONTEST CW: Aug 8, 0000 UTC till Aug 9, 2400 UTC. Bands: 10-80m. Exchange: RST and QSO number. QTCs are sent from DX to Europe. Further contest information at: http://www.darc.de/referate/dx/fedcw.htm.

PIRATE: Ron, LU2AH, states that the AY0Z operation from the Malvinas (Falkland Islands) was an Argentinian counterpart to our April fool hoaxes. The alleged QSL manager Carlos Sal Menem, LU1SM, is the President of Argentina!

The postal rates in Indonesia increased dramatically. Now an airmail letter costs 2 IRCs or 2 US $.
