7Q, MALAWI. Edwin, ZS5BBO, who went to Malawi during December 1999, reports to OPDX about his 7Q7BO operation and states, "Unfortunately the operating time was restricted due to numerous factors. However there will be another DXpedition to Lake Malawi. The plan is to go back in December 2000. If anybody is interested in being part of this team I would like to hear from him or her and I will be able to pass on any further information. This time I would like to have a station on all band 160m - 10m plus 6m CW, SSB and RTTY. I need specialists on RTTY as well as CW for this operation." Meanwhile, Edwin is very busy doing QSL cards as they come in daily. He would like to request that if you or if you know of anyone who worked him as 7Q7BO to please QSL as soon as possible. He would really like to get all the QSL cards out and sent by the end of March. The QSL address is: Edwin Musto, P.O. Box 211032, Bluff, 4036, South Africa. ADDED NOTE: Edwin mentions he is also in the process of doing all the GM8V QSL cards. He also suggests to send your card A.S.A.P to the above address.

9J2, ZAMBIA. Brian, 9J2BO, has been active on 40/30/12/10 meters. Look for him on 40/30 meters CW after 0400z. Check for him on CW around 24910 kHz between 1445 and 1900z. Also, check 28410 kHz after 1130z. ADDED INFORMATION: "The 59(9) DXReport" reports that Brian is not working RTTY at present due to a faulty F3 key on his keyboard. He is looking for a replacement but parts are scarce in Lusaka.

CARIBBEAN OPERATION. George, W3EH (ex-K2KTT), informs OPDX that he will be at his home in Sint Maarten, Dutch West Indies from March 1-5th. He plans to be active as PJ/W3EH with operations on 80-10 meters. Also, look for him to be active as FS/W3EH but only on 20-10 meters (which includes the WARC bands). George states activity will definitely be on SSB and hopefully CW as well. QSL via W3EH or N2VE.

Further operations during the month will be limited by his work schedule. On Sat/Sun, February 26-27th, he will operate from IOTA NA-160, Cayos Cochinos. J3, GRENADA. Lance, W7GJ (ex-WA3GPL, WA1JXN, WA1JXN/C6A, ZF2OC/ZF8), will be leaving for Grenada on February 5th, and hopes to be licensed and operational from February 8-15th. KG4, GUANTANAMO BAY. Karl, K1KO, informs OPDX that he is planning to be in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for about one week beginning the evening of Tuesday, February 8, 2000. He will be operating as KG4KO at various times and will try to emphasize the lower bands, especially 160 and 80 meters. However, there has been a lot of problems attempting to use the lower bands there due to electrical interference from the nearby desalinization plant. There are plans to move the KG4 Club shack some distance away from the current location, but Karl is not sure whether that will have already happened when he arrives. Regardless of this, Karl will also attempt to provide KG4 to the Far East stations if the bands are open. The operation, on any band, will be primarily CW on the usual DX frequencies working split. QSL direct only to K1KO: Karl Oyster Jr., 1448 Lotus Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23456-4011.
