CURACAO, PJ2, SA-006 Marty, NW0L, Tom, AE9B, Geoff, W0CG, will be PJ2T in the SSB part of the Worked All Europe Contest (http://www.darc.de/referate/dx/fedcw.htm) on Sep 8/9. During the week they will sign PJ2/homecall in SSB/CW/RTTY/ PSK31/MFSK16 on 160-10m. QSL for PJ2T via KN7Y.
ETHIOPIA, ET Silvio, IV3TRK, is signing 9E1S mainly in CW between Aug 25 and Sep 4.
GUANTANAMO BAY, KG4, NA-015 Bill, W4WX, will sign KG4DX in RTTY (some SSB) on the WARC and 6m bands from Sep 7-14. QSL via W4WX, bureau ok.
LANZAROTE ISLAND, EA8, AF-004 Frank, DH5JG, is signing EA8/DH5JG mainly in CW on 10-40m between Aug 29 and Sep 10. He emphasizes the WARC band activities and may also take part in the WAE SSB Contest. QSL via DH5JG, bureau ok.

PAKISTAN, AP Once again Peter, ON6TT, is travelling to Pakistan having additional equipment for the club station AP2ARS in his luggage. Expect him to be active on the lowbands this week. QSL: CW via S53R, SSB via ON5NT.
PAPUA NEW GUINEA, P2 Andy, P29AM (QSL via NU5O), and Harry, P29WS (QSL via W4HUT), wil be QRV from Lae mainly on 1830, 3520, 3780, 7023, 14023, 14200 and 14226.5 kHz starting on Sep 7. Their stay is planned till Sep 16.
POEL ISLAND, DL, EU-098 Rolf, DL6ZFG/p, is active with 100 watts and dipole mainly on 20/40m during the evening hours of Aug 27-30.

UZBEKISTAN, UM The special event station UM8LA is celebrating the 10 year independence of Uzbekistan from the USSR from Aug 27 until Sep 5. QSL via RW3RN.
TARAWA, T30, OC-017 Gerard, PA3AXU, is signing T30XU from Western Kiribati from Sep 4-10. Find more information about this at: http://www.qsl.net/pa3axu/2001/. He will move on to Nauru afterwards.
TROMELIN, FR/T, AF-031 Jack, FR5ZU, will be at the weather station between Sep 6 and Oct 5. He will work in SSB with 100 watts and verticals on presumably on 3773, 3795, 14256, 14274, 18145, 21205, 24945 and 28470 kHz like in the past. QSL via JA8FCG.
TARAWA
Tarawa (pronounced tarwae) consists of about 30 smaller islands grouped around a lagoon. In the past they were called Gilbert and Ellice Islands but today North and South Tarawa. The inhabitants enjoy a tropical climate with about 28 deg centrigade and the raining period is from November till April.
Tarawa is also the name of the capital city and economic center of Kiribati which mainly exports phosphates and Kopra.
This island group was first inhabitated between 200 and 500 and prior to WW2 it was a British colony. From 1941 till 1943 it was occupied by the Japanese who lost these islands to the American in a battle with many casualties on Nov 20, 1943. Since 1979 the Tarawa group belongs to Kiribati an independent republic with approximately 65000 inhabitants mostly Micronese. The official language spoken is English but national tongue is Gilbertese.

Radivoje "Rasa" Lazarevic, YU1RL, is the new ambassador of Yugoslavia in Brasil. He knows Brasil already very well as DXpeditioner and contester and also participated in an earlier activity from Fernando de Noronha.
